Outfielders

3. Nick Castellanos, Detroit Tigers

A pending free agent after the upcoming season would most likely be one of the first names to come to mind if any of the current projected outfielders for Atlanta gets injured or let’s face it…if Markakis continues his second-half slump from last year. Also, maybe by July, we will know if the DH will be in the NL next year.

4. Tommy Pham, Tampa Bay Rays

As most of us know, the Rays like to get players while on the cheap and flip them as they earn more money. Pham is quietly a really good player, who could be a better version of Camargo offensively, I think. The Rays, if struggling this year, might look to deal him come July if they don’t want to pay him north of $5 million next year, especially after some unfavorable comments toward Rays fans recently.

5. Hunter Renfroe, San Diego Padres

Yes, the Padres just made a humongous signing but I’m still not sold on them competing with the Dodgers, Giants, and Rockies this year (2020 is a different story). They also have a glut of outfielders who they could look to trade and maybe acquire even more young pitching in return. Renfroe, the Mississippi native, could become a platoon partner with Markakis with the intention of being a full-time starter in 2020.

While the rebuild has focused around arms, there is certainly the potential for one to be needed this year…
