June

This is the month we really need to see the Braves take off as they start the month with 12 games against teams that are rebuilding.

They have two against the Tigers, seven against the Pirates, and three against the Marlins. I don’t think the Pirates are necessarily rebuilding, but they haven’t done anything this offseason to show they want to contend in 2019.

This is a chance in the schedule where the Braves could easily go on a 10-2 run and create some separation.

They’ll need that separation as the end of the month is not as kind with a bunch of games against division foes. They have three against the Phillies, six against the Mets, and three at the Nationals.

While the beginning of the month will give the Braves a chance to pick up some ‘easy’ wins and create separation, the end of the month will also give them a chance to create separation in their division.

That’s especially true with the Mets as they will have played them 10 times by the end of June with seven of those games being at SunTrust Park.

If the Mets really are contenders in 2019, the Braves will know by now. They also will have an opportunity to crush their dreams before the trade deadline if they can win seven of those 10 head-to-head matchups.

Mixed in there is a four-game trip to Wrigley, which will be tough.

I really think this is the month the Braves can create a lot of momentum going into the All-Star break.

Predictions: 18-10
