The Southpaw from Brazil

Last season was a lost season for Luiz Gohara.

The power lefty dealt with injuries, weight problems and perhaps most importantly, family issues that led to a 5.95 ERA at the major league level and a Triple-A ERA of 4.94 in 12 starts.

Gohara will have to prove his health and durability at Triple-A before he would be considered for a rotation spot.

He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for Gohara to re-establish his value.  As a starting point, he’s said to have dropped a good amount of weight so far… with more time to go before February and the start of Spring workouts.

Remember, when Anthopoulos took over the Braves a little over a year ago, Gohara was projected to be in the rotation for the 2018 season?

Heck, Freddie Freeman even said as much to Anthopoulos.

There is no doubt Gohara can get back to his 2017 level, but it will take patience and seasoning.
