July 28, 5-1 Dodgers

  • VENUE:  SUNTRUST PARK
  • TIME/DAY:  SATURDAY, 7:10PM
  • STARTERS:
    • MAX FRIED
    • ALEX WOOD

The Braves have had their moments against Wood, but this night wasn’t one of them:  5.2 innings, giving up 1 lone hit and striking out 5.

Now that said, they did coax 4 walks out of him over 96 pitches, so patience may have been part of the game plan.

Max Fried deserved a better fate:  1 earned run over 5 innings with 7K and 3BB… only 2 Dodgers getting hits.

Behind him Luke Jackson and Sam Freeman gave up 2 runs apiece.  Dan Winkler and Jonny Venters had solid outings.

The run that Fried allowed came in the 2nd inning via a single, HBP, and 2 deep lineouts.  An error moved up an extra runner, but didn’t make the run unearned.

The Dodgers’ Caleb Ferguson gave up the run – a homer by Camargo. Ferguson isn’t high on the bullpen depth chart, but probably will make the post-season roster near the end of their pen.

But it was for this 3rd game in a row that the Braves’ bats were virtually silenced… 3 games and only 4 runs have been scored.

Now a sweep is looming… but there was an answer.
