Matt Harvey, RHP, Cincinnati Reds

Admittedly I think this is a bit of a long shot. There were Braves rumors around the end of July that Atlanta was interested in acquiring Matt Harvey‘s services, and whether they were true or not, who knows? Harvey has pitched better since leaving Queens and going to the Queen City, but would he provide any value to the Braves?

Freddy Galvis, SS, San Diego Padres

Galvis has quietly put up a quality season in San Diego. He could deepen the bench for Brian Snitker and in a sense take the place of Ryan Flaherty. While Galvis isn’t going to swipe bases on a daily basis either, he can take one every now and then and I could very certainly see him pinch running late in games.

Of course, Galvis was a more possible trade option for the Padres when they could bring up super-prospect Fernando Tatis, Jr. to San Diego to finish the season. However, with Tatis now out for the year, Galvis is of much more importance for the Padres.

Amed Rosario, SS, New York Mets

This one is probably the longest shot of them all on this list as I don’t see the Mets putting Amed Rosario even on waivers, but if they did, I would love the Braves to take a shot. Rosario is rated as one of the best runners in the game and could make a huge difference in a playoff game. He’s not hit really well so far in the bigs, but his speed is a game changer.

Rosario is also a very good natural defender, though he’s struggled some in his adjustment to the major leagues. The improved play the infield defense could keep Rosario out of Braves rumors, but if he would be available, he should be a target.
