Houston Astros

POSITION: 1ST PLACE

ISSUES:  Carlos Beltran is hitting .239/.711 OPS.  Evan Gattis only slightly better.

WHAT THEY WILL LOOK FOR

This is their time, so you’d expect Houston to ‘go for it’.  However, once again, pitching is a much bigger concern, given multiple injuries with their starting staff.

Obviously, their 46-24 record suggests that they are weathering this storm nicely so far, but having the #3 scoring offense in the majors is likely to make them believe that no bat is needed.

WHAT THEY MIGHT OFFER

The Astros’ farm has mixed reviews: #12 according to Keith Law, #3 by BaseballAmerica., so figure that their assets will be directed toward pitching exclusively.

CHANCES OF A DEAL WITH ATLANTA

They have some attractive prospects at the top, but unless there’s a package deal involved (not likely), the Astros would likely prefer a deal alone for Jaime Garcia … or more.
