Dansby Swanson – Shortstop

The 22-year-old has appeared in 10 games since being called up to Atlanta on August 17th.  He’s hit in the leadoff spot once, batted 7th once, 9th once and the 8th spot in the other seven games.  Hitting 8th isn’t the optimal spot in the lineup for fantasy production, but Swanson has been getting it done.

Things just seem to happen when Swanson gets on base.

At the plate, he’s 10-36 with one RBI and four runs scored.  He has eight strikeouts and two walks.  Dansby has stolen one bag so far and did have 13 stolen bases in the minors this year so we could see a couple more yet to come.

The other fantasy positive to Swanson is that he plays shortstop.  Yes, you have an oddly amount of shortstop studs this year, but your team may not have these elite guys.  Jonathan Villar, Ian Desmond (has SS and OF positions), Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado, Francisco Lindor, Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Trevor Story and Jean Segura lead the back.

Dansby has been getting a day of rest every three games, but like I said earlier it seems like when he gets on, something happens.  Just because the Braves are batting him usually in the 8th spot, we’ve got Ender Inciarte, Adonis Garcia, Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp right behind him.

Right now according to Yahoo, Swanson is only owned by 14% of teams.  Go pick him up before someone else does.
