Sad Seventh

Krol pitched a quite home sixth helped by a superb defensive play from Garcia that ended the inning and a double by d’Arnaud double was all the Braves could muster in the seventh

Chaz Roe came on the pitch the seventh for the Braves and the wheels came off.  He walked Posey with one out and after appearing to have Crawford struck out, gave up a line drive that split the gap in right-center for a standup triple scoring Posey.

A twelve pitch at bat from Belt ended in a walk and Parker tripled into right center scoring two more and ending Roe’s day after one-third of an inning, 2 triples, two walks and one out.  There goes the old era. . .

Roe Be Gone

Brandon Cunniff replaced Roe and Panik greeted him with another shot that looked like splitting the gap but Inciarte made a diving catch for the second out and Parker scored from third on the sacrifice fly putting  the Giants up 9-1 but they weren’t done.

Nunez hit a 2-0 pitch into the left field seats to make it 10-1 and Conor Gillaspie hit a shot to left passed an ill-timed dive by Kemp for a triple.  On a 2-0 pitch Cunniff hit Span on the knee and pinch hitter Gorkys Hernandez hit one over Inciarte’s head for a bases clearing double to make it 12-3.

Cunniff walked Posey for the second time in the inning and while Posey went to first Cunniff headed for the Shower to be replaced by Ryan Weber.  Crawford greeted Weber with a single up the middle but the Giants held the runner at third as courtesy to load to bases. They might as well have let him score and Belt singled to center driving him in anyway. Mercifully Parker hit a fly ball to left to end the inning.

Eight was Enough . . Really

Will Smith walked Inciarte to lead off the Braves eighth but Garcia struck out, Freeman popped up to Crawford and Kemp struck out, to bring the Giants up for more batting practice.

Obviously tired from swinging the bat so often Panik hit a soft fly to center to start the home eighth. Nunez followed with a double to left and moved to third when Trevor Brown was out 4-3. He was stranded their as Span duplicated Brown’s ground out to end the inning.

Cory Gearrin came on to pitch the ninth for San Francisco and got the first two outs easily before giving up a homer to Beckham and make is 13-4 Giants before getting  d’Arnaud to ground out to third.
