Still Available

Chapman was the star of the relief market but other names are starting to emerge; Wade Davis, Andrew Miller, Jeremy Jeffress, Will Smith, Daniel Hudson et al are said to be out there.

Alan pointed out that the Braves are pushing their lefty relievers per Ken Rosenthal so Ian Krol, Dario Alvarez, Hunter Cervenka and Eric O’Flaherty are definitely available and there’s no reason to believe Vizcaino isn’t available as well. It’s true Vizzy is injured but it isn’t an injury that would scare teams off; his performance prior to the injury will however damage his value.

More from Tomahawk Take

None of the lefties by themselves is going to bring an exciting return and at this point Vizzy is a seventh or eighth inning guy – not a closer – on a championship team and while the return for him would be better it isn’t going to blow your socks off.

Lots of teams need lefty relievers an teams like the Giants, Orioles, Dodgers, Rangers, Jays and Pirates could use Vizzy. I’d favor the Pirates, Giants and Orioles as landing spots and an A or high A ball prospect coming back.

The Mets have been mentioned as watching Chis Withrow but the Braves haven’t been overt about moving him and why should they take a small return for a guy who they control through 2019. I expect a higher price on him that any of the lefties and likely the same or higher as the one on Vizzy.
