Hitter of the weekBrandon Snyder continued an incredible run of hitting for Gwinnett as he went .388/.388/.667 on the week with two doubles and a home run. He also stole a base. Honorable mention: Ray-Patrick Didder put up an incredibly balanced line for Rome, going .296/.387/.444 with 5 runs scored, a double, a home run, 3 runs batted in, a 4/4 BB/K ratio, and 3 stolen bases on the week.

Pitcher of the week – Rob Whalen has hit his starts in such a way that he has not had two starts in a week to push for this, but in a week where no two-start guy “dominated”, Whalen had the best game score of the week, so I’ll “cheat” and use this as a way to highlight the excellent season he’s had. I actually put up on Twitter a hitter and pitcher of the day every day, and Whalen is tied with Chris Ellis and Mike Soroka with the most selections on the season across the minor league system.

Honorable mention: While his combination of starts did not best Whalen, Enderson Franco had a very solid week with two starts that totaled 13 innings, 4 runs allowed (3 earned) on 8 hits, no walks, and 14 strikeouts. While Franco was originally seen as a “roster filler” type to hold a place until guys like Touki Toussaint and Mike Soroka were ready for promotion, he’s been establishing himself as a solid inning-eating rotation member for the Mudcats this season.
