Mississippi made a valiant effort to come back, ending the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, but falling to Jacksonville 5-3. Chris Ellis got the start and went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 5. Dustin Peterson and Johan Camargo each had a single and a double. Carlos Franco walked twice. Dansby Swanson had a single and a walk. Jordy Lara had a double.

Friday

Mississippi scored first and found runs at a premium, winning 3-1 over Jacksonville on Friday. Sean Newcomb went 5 innings, allowing one run on 5 hits and a walk, striking out 5.
