AAA Gwinnett Braves (10-4)

Monday

Durham took a 4-3 lead in the 6th inning, and the Braves simply couldn’t push a run across until the bottom of the 9th, and by then it wasn’t enough as they lost 5-4. Mike Foltynewicz went 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 5 K. Chase d’Arnaud had a triple, double, and single along with a stolen base. Reid Brignac had three singles and a stolen base. Ryan Lavarnway had a single and a double.

Tuesday

Gwinnett was the focus of all of baseball for about a half hour on Tuesday night as Aaron Blair got through 7 innings without allowing hit before the reliever allowed a double to the corner to break up the bid. The final score ended up being 7-2. Blair’s sparkling line was 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. Rio Ruiz continued his torrid hitting, going 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Ronnier Mustelier had three singles. Emilio Bonifacio had two singles and a walk. Ryan Lavarnway had a single and a double.

Wednesday

Gwinnett got another great start from Tyrell Jenkins on Wednesday. Problem was that the defense forgot that they’re supposed to also assist with a start by their pitcher. Durham took the game 5-3, and Jenkins was charged with all 5 runs, only 2 earned, though I debate whether even those two should have been earned. Jenkins overall line was 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. He also used his amazing pick off move to nab two base runners as his defense wasn’t able to help him get out of jams, so he had to do it on his own. Rio Ruiz had the big day offensively, collecting a single, double, and a walk. Reid Brignac also had a single and a double. Ronnier Mustelier had a double. Emilio Bonifacio and Chase d’Arnaud each had a steal.
