ESPN 10-team League

Due to the demand after the initial post, I ended up creating a second league on both Yahoo and ESPN. The ESPN league was head-to-head scoring and featured one of the two leagues where a TT writer ended up in the championship series.

The four playoff teams in the league were my “Big Ben” team, Roy Johnson‘s “Gas House Gorillas”, Jon Nelson’s “Gwinnett Gophers II”, and Lee Greene’s “Greene Hornets”. In the semifinals, Big Ben defeated Greene Hornets, and Gwinnett Gophers II defeated Gas House Gorillas.

I’d like to say that the championship was close and I narrowly grabbed the victory, but that’s not what happened. At all. The Gwinnett Gophers II soundly won the championship match 7-3. The Gophers were led by 3 wins from Cole Hamels in the championship matchup, along with 22 strikeouts from Justin Verlander and 20 from Stephen Strasburg in the championship match. Prince Fielder knocked in 14 runs, Edwin Encarnacion drove out 5 home runs, and Francisco Lindor stole 4 bases in the championship match to lead the Gophers offense.

Congrats Jon on your win!
