Mississippi Braves (50-48)

Thursday

Mississippi wasted a solid start from Victor Mateo, losing 7-0 to Mobile on Thursday. Mateo threw 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 5. He had one real mistake pitch that led to a 6th inning 2-run home run by Zach Borenstein. Eric Garcia picked up 3 hits on the day, including a double. KD Kang had 2 hits, including a double. Levi Hyams added two singles. While only having one error on the day, the Mississippi defense had a very poor showing on the day with a passed ball (could have been two, but the scorer charged Mauricio Cabrera with a wild pitch instead) and an error by Rio Ruiz. While he had the best day at the plate, Garcia had a couple of bobbled balls called hits that could have been ruled errors as well. All around a sloppy showing on defense for the M-Braves.

Friday

The Braves were shut out on Friday, losing 5-0 to Mobile. Steve Janas got the start and went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. David Rohm was the only M-Brave to reach base twice with a single and a walk. KD Kang added a double.

Saturday

Mississippi got the win over Mobile on Saturday with a 2-1 victory. Andrew Barbosa had an excellent start, throwing 6 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 7. Jason Hursh picked up his second save since his move to the bullpen. Matt Lipka was the only Brave to reach base twice, collecting a single and a walk. Kevin Ahrens had a double.

Sunday

Mississippi got a better start from Lucas Sims in his second start, but still dropped the game on Sunday to Mobile, 3-0. Sims threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit and 5 walks, striking out 8. The strikeouts were nice, but the 5 walks are concerning to say the least. Sean Godfrey had 3 hits, including a double. David Rohm and Braeden Schlehuber each had a single and a walk. Levi Hyams added a triple, and Kevin Ahrens stole a base.
