Are our Atlanta Braves healthy?

The early stages of Spring Training have not been so kind for the Braves, but hopefully by season’s beginning, our crew will mostly be ready to go.  Here’s an update:

Mike Minor– shoulder ailment.  Serious. Going to see Dr. Andrews Monday. Mike himself doesn’t think it’s serious but anything related to the shoulder is very serious.  At best, Minor will likely miss the first month of the regular season.  At worst?  Elbows are a year, but shoulders can be career threatening.

Andrelton Simmons– Oblique strain.  Not Serious. The Braves and Simba are being cautious as they should and he’ll likely see some game time sometime this week.

Chris Johnson– Wrist. Not Serious. Chris has lowered his hands a bit to try and generate more contact, and it’s caused a wrist ailment. He should also be in games later this week.

Nick Markakis– Neck Surgery.  Recovering.  We received good news that Markakis is ahead of schedule on his recovery and now expects to be ready by Spring Training.  Often times, there are spurts of optimism during rehab and recovery and it looks like Markakis had one this week. Keep an eye out and an ear bent this next week.

Melvin Upton Jr- Seamoiditis. Recovering.  MUJ will likely be out for at least 6 more weeks recovering from a foot issue, and it’s also likely we won’t hear much about it this month as he’ll be in a boot most of that time.
