Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News suggested on Saturday that the Rangers are going to sit on the sidelines for a while.  They still have a number of player health concerns and only $10-12 million in “financial flexibility” remaining.  That’s not enough to pay for Justin Upton.

Even if they were to trade away some salary to get him, there’s hardly any guarantees right now that such an acquisition would do them any good.  This was the worst American League team in 2014 – and it was because of severe injury issues from multiple key players.

So would one bat transform Texas into a world-beating once again?  No… so there should be no reason to expect them to call Atlanta.
