Option 3: Sign seasoned veteran Corey Dickerson

Corey Dickerson was last seen with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021, after being traded from the Marlins in a trade that looked like this:

The former Blue Jay, who was an All-Star at DH in 2017 and earned a Golf Glove Award for his work in left field in 2018, could not only give the Braves a good bat but could also provide some veteran leadership in the clubhouse. After being drafted by the Rockies in 2010 and being called up in 2013, Dickerson has played for six different teams in his nine seasons in the Major Leagues.

In Dickerson’s 2021 season with the Marlins and the Blue Jays, he slashed .271/.326/.408 with 6 home runs and 29 RBI. While putting up these numbers, he also gave the teams he played for a great veteran presence in the clubhouse.

While playing some games in the field, he was mostly utilized as a pinch-hitter or designated hitter. Despite his Gold Glove Award in 2018, he had the worst fielding percentage of all outfielders in 2020 with .970.

Even with age, Dickerson could still provide a solid bat for the Braves. He has experience in both center and left field, which would allow him to be versatile as a backup or potential starter for the Braves in the field.

Dickerson also has starting experience and started a lot of games for the Blue Jays in the month of September. He also boasts the 28th highest batting average among active players according to a list from Baseball Reference.

For the Atlanta Braves, bringing Dickerson in could be a deal that Alex Anthopoulos and company may be able to secure for not much money.

While the 32-year old would certainly not be a long-term option for the Braves, Dickerson could provide a bat for much-needed depth on the Braves bench and might be able to find his old self playing in Truist Park.
