As stated on a previous page, Camargo has a good chance this season to be the go-to utility guy, being that no significant signings were made to bolster the bench this offseason.
Of course, for a guy to be the go-to bat off the bench, you do not want someone who carries a .200 BA and a 27.6% SO percentage (only referring to his 2020 season).
During the Winter Leagues, Camargo played an important part for his club as they went on to win a LIDOM Championship.
In that time, Camargo did not necessarily put up the numbers the Braves would have wanted to see in his time away from the team.
It is a bit of a letdown with the numbers posted by Camargo recently as fans wonder what will happen in regard to the bench this upcoming season. Camargo needs to find a way to put things back together in order to be an impactful part of this club.
There’s a lot of potential there for Camargo, but things are beginning to wear thin. He certainly has shown that he can make a difference in spurts, but he’ll need to find a way to be a dependable player day in and day out.
As of now, the Braves have not made any real transactions regarding the bench, which may or may not be a concern to a lot of people considering the Ozuna deal was just completed.
But like I stated before, Camargo has practically been given an opportunity to show that he can be that dependable bench player. Some think that this bench is not strong enough to contribute throughout an entire season and to be completely honest, I would agree with you.
The door is wide open for Camargo to prove me wrong though. He has the potential, he just needs to execute it.
It feels almost like a “prove it” year for Camargo. The opportunity is there for him to take the go-to bench player role if he wants it and if he truly wants it, he must show that by improving his performance at the plate.
