10. Chicago Cubs

I honestly did not think Yu Darvish could ever do this type of stuff again. Thankfully for the Cubs though he is as he might be the Cy Young leader at the moment.

9. Minnesota Twins

Losers of now six straight, I was a tad surprised the Twins did not bolster their rotation. I suppose they are hoping the offense will pick back up and they will mash their way to victories.

8. Atlanta Braves

I know we try and be happy go lucky around here, but it’s hard not to say that the Atlanta Braves were not big losers at the deadline. No, they should not have sold the farm for rentals but pitchers were available that could help for multiple years. The Atlanta Braves needed at least one more pitcher.

7. Cleveland Indians

The Indians got some quality prospects back in the Mike Clevinger deal, but when you are at this point in the season and tied for the divison lead. How mad at a player do you have to be to trade him off when he is signed for two more years?

6. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox were one of my two winners from the deadline, and yes I know they did not do much. However, they saw the Indians and Twins both either stay pat or trade away a young good pitcher.

5. San Diego Padres

I think their is no question the Padres were the clear winner of the deadline. They were extremely busy and of course added the biggest fish in the pond in Mike Clevinger. They still have a dang good farm system in place too. This team is going to be good for a long time.

4. New York Yankees

All of a sudden Gerrit Cole is human. He has lost two starts in a row, including one to the Atlanta Braves, and has seen his ERA jump up to right under 4. He will be fine, but the Yankees right now are not playing their best ball of the year.

3. Oakland Athletics

The A’s added Mike Minor at the deadline and then learned that their series with the Mariners will be postponed due to some Covid-19 breakouts in the organization.

2. Tampa Bay Rays

Who had the Rays tied for the biggest division lead going into September? This team is young and fun and more importantly they have the Yankees number at the moment. If other teams are not careful, Tampa may run away with it.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are loaded. They can pitch and they can mash home runs as they broke records in August doing so. Hopefully for the rest of the National league, they will have another October falter though.
