We take a look back at the last 10 games on July 4 for the Atlanta Braves and relive some of the best moments from those games.

It’s really sad to think about the fact that there won’t be an Atlanta Braves game on this Independence Day.

When you think about the July 4 holiday most people think about our freedom and those who fought for it, and then a lot of people associate the holiday with baseball.

It’s similar to win sports fans think about Christmas, you look to see what NBA games will be played on that day.

As soon as the MLB schedule comes out you look to see who will be on ESPN for the July 4 game when you have four games on TV in a row.

It really is a glorious day for baseball fans and I hate that it won’t be happening this year.

For Braves fans even more depressing because the Angels were coming to town this weekend.

I had tickets to go to the Friday night game to see Mike Trout — possibly the best player ever — go against my favorite team.

Now that won’t be happening and who knows when we’ll get another chance to see Trout in Atlanta.

Instead of driving to Atlanta this weekend to watch Trout, Simba, and the Angels take on the Braves, I’ll be hoping we get a picture or two of them working out on the field for summer camp.

So with there being no games this July 4, let’s take a look at some of the best games for the Braves over the past 10 years.

You don’t have to go back very far to relive one of the best Atlanta Braves games on Independence Day as they dominated the Phillies on this date last year.

After the Braves overtook the Phillies in the NL East last year they really put their foot on their necks on July 4 stomping them in a 12-6 victory.

And things didn’t get off to a hot start for Atlanta as Mike Soroka allowed 4 earned runs in the first inning. But it ended up being one of the most impressive outings of the year for the youngster as he settled down and didn’t allow another run while going 4.2 innings with 6 strikeouts.

The Braves offense went nuts scoring multiple runs in the first four innings and taking 9-4 lead.

Dansby Swanson had a huge day going 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBI including a pair of home runs.

And then in 2015, the Braves took advantage of the Phillies again with a 9-5 win on July 4 of that year.

This time it was the Braves who got off to a hot start scoring four runs in the first inning off Kevin Correia.

Cameron Maybin and Kelly Johnson led the charge.

Maybin was 3-for-5 for 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, and a home run while Johnson was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.

Nick Markakis was batting third in that game and Jace Peterson led off … fun times.

The other two games the Atlanta Braves won on July 4 the past decade was in 2014 and 2011.

The Braves hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks and their old friend Martin Prado on July 4, 2014, and the good guys were sitting pretty with a 487-38 record.

Ervin Santana got the start for the Braves and gave up just 2 earned runs over 7.1 innings with 6 strikeouts.

I think a lot of people forget how good Santana was for the Braves that season.

It’s no surprise that Freddie Freeman led the team with 2 RBI and a couple of hits in 4 at-bats.

B.J. (Melvin) Upton, Andrelton Simmons, Tommy La Stella, and Gerald Laird all had2 hits in this game as well.

And then finally, in 2011 the Braves treated their fans to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Independence Day.

Rest in peace to Tommy Hanson who was brilliant that day giving up just 1 earned run on 4 hits and a walk over 7 innings with 6 strikeouts.

On the other side, the Braves got a little revenge against Ubaldo Jimenez (who once threw a no-hitter against the Braves) scoring 3 runs on 9 hits against him over 5.1 innings.

Again, no surprise, but Freddie Freeman got it started with a two-run home run in the first inning. He finished the game 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBI, and a walk.

Brian McCann was the only other Braves player to have multiple hits in this game going 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.

Next. Chances to return to stadium. dark

Atlanta hasn’t had a ton of success on July 4 in the past 10 years, but I’d still love to watch them play and lose this weekend — just give me baseball on Independence Day again.
