Free agents to consider

There is one free agent that would be a fit for the Braves due to his versatility and veteran leadership and that’s Brock Holt.

In 2015, Holt made the All-Star team with the Boston Red Sox as a super-utility player and that has been his calling card ever since. Over the past five years, Holt has played every position around the diamond, except for catcher.

Last season, Holt had a line of .297/.369/.402 in 87 games, which was good enough for a 1.0 WAR.

MLB Trade Rumors predicts the 31-year-old Holt’s contract to be a two-year deal worth $8 million.

It would seem the Braves would have to cut salary somewhere if they were to bring in Holt, even though to me it would be worthwhile.

There were a couple of outfield options that likely still want to be starters, but would be nice options as pinch hitters off the bench.

Hunter Pence was an All-Star for the Rangers last season, hitting 18 home runs and driving in 59 runs, but he might be better suited for the American League where he can be the designated hitter every day.

Kevin Pillar had a career year for the Giants, hitting 21 home runs, but couple the newfound power with his defense and he likely can find a starting job someplace.
