Jorge Soler

After years and years of seeing his name very high on prospect rankings and what not’s, Jorge Soler finally had a very productive year in Kansas City in 2019. He ended up just 2 home runs shy of 50 for the season and only 3 RBI short of 120.

At the end of the year, he was 4th in the American League with 82 extra base hits. He also was durable as he appeared in all 162 of the Kansas City Royals games.

We all are aware the Braves are very defensive-oriented as well and with that being said, Soler is not the best defensive outfielder, but at the same time, you can put him out there and not be overly concerned. The bottom line is he is an average defender on the grass.

Now for some odd reason, the Royals have been pretty steadfast with their recent decisions that they are close to competing once again.

To be fair, they are arguably in the easiest division in baseball, but the Indians and Twins should both still be good, and frankly, the White Sox are going to be better in 2020.

With that being said, I think the Royals would be wise to market Soler.

He would not come cheap in terms of prospects as he would cost at least a couple of good ones if the Braves were to pursue. Especially combined with the fact he will be making south of $5M AAV in 2020 and is team controlled for two seasons after that.
