Why would the Indians trade him

Why would the Indians want to trade one of the best young players in the game today? Well, they traded away Trevor Bauer last year, they traded away Corey Kluber earlier this offseason, and Lindor will be an unrestricted free agent in two years.

The Indians appear to be on the verge of a rebuild. Lindor will likely earn a $300 million+ mega-deal and the Indians are just making sure they get something out of him since they have no intention of signing him to that sort of contract.

Cleveland’s window appears to be closing in the AL Central, with the youthful Twins taking charge and the White Sox making some big splashes in free agency, signing Yasmani Grandal and Avisail Garcia.

Now that they’ve moved Kluber they may not be as pressed to find a trade partner for Lindor…at the moment. It doesn’t mean they won’t trade him for the right package.

The Braves have one of the best farm systems around, plus they have a young core on a win-now team. If they miss out on Donaldson, the options at third base get very slim.

Outside of a deal for Kris Bryant (unlikely with grievance baggage), we are looking at in-house options or scraping off the bottom of the free-agent trash bin (no offense to any of those guys).

The Braves have to ask themselves if Lindor is worth parting with some prized Minor League possessions. Even two years of a player of this caliber will require a substantial offer.

What are the Braves willing to part with and would two years of Lindor be worth it?
