Domingo Santana

Domingo Santana was recently non-tendered by the Seattle Mariners. He has also spent some time in the National League with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Santana was a player that I wanted the Atlanta Braves to acquire last season and I was actually putting proposals together at the exact moment when I saw he was traded to Seattle. Obviously, that relationship didn’t last but for one lone season.

Let’s go ahead and get the flaw in his game out of the way, and that is yes, his defense is below average and I am fully aware that is going against everything Alex Anthopolous and this front office has worked for since taking over the reins.

However, I still believe he is a better option to pair with Nick Markakis than Adam Duvall if that is a route the Braves are planning on taking, and as of now, it looks like it might be.

If you average his career numbers, Santana has a 25 home run and 75 RBI clip for a 162 game season.

At the end of the day, Domingo Santana at worst would be a good 4th outfielder on this team and someone who the Braves could turn too in a DH game or in the late innings as a pinch hitter.
