One thing I think we all can be certain of this offseason is that the Texas Rangers will make a big splash.
They’ll be opening up their new ballpark in 2020 and they want to give the fans a reason to come out and watch this team to take advantage of the excitement of a new ballpark.
I think the Rangers are going to go hard after Rendon this offseason who is a Texas product having played college ball at Rice, but I just can’t see Rendon leaving Washington. And I can’t see the Rangers outbidding the Nationals for him.
And once that happens, the Rangers are going be very aggressive in going after Donaldson.
The Rangers already have a solid offense in place, which finished 12th in baseball in runs scored in 2019, but they need somebody who can get on base more often and Donaldson does that.
Plus, they have a huge hole at the hot corner and desperately need a third baseman.
Donaldson makes a lot of sense for the Rangers this offseason and that’s why many experts view them as the favorites to sign Donaldson.
MLB Trade Rumors has him signing with the Rangers for 3 years and $75 million. I have a hard time believing the Braves or another team wouldn’t match that offer.
I think the Rangers will have to overpay a bit to get him, and I think they’re desperate enough to make a big move this offseason that they’d be will to make it happen.
Rangers: 3/1
Those are my odds and the teams who I think will be most interested in signing Donaldson this offseason. Let me know who you think will sign him and what he will sign for in the comments below.
