Second Base

This one is tricky because we don’t know the status of Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong. Wong is probably the only second baseman who can at least try and convince someone that Ozzie Albies shouldn’t be the gold glove second baseman in the NL.

Let me be clear though, Wong is no match for the NL leader in hits though as far as offense goes.

And for that matter, neither is Tommy Edman, who would be Wong’s replacement if he cant go. Although I must admit, Edman would scare me a little more than Wong would with the lumber.

Obviously though, Ozzie is the superior of all three though. That’s not any bias from this writer either. That’s just a fact. So with that said, the advantage goes here moderately to the Atlanta Braves.

Shortstop

This battle right here is closer than the experts thing in my opinion. The Cardinals Paul Dejong and the Atlanta Braves Dansby Swanson are closer to each other’s skill set than many realize. The difference is Dejong has more power, but Dansby might be a little more contact heavy.

I’m gonna go ahead and give the Cardinals a slight advantage, but if Dansby can find any magic like he had back in the early part of the season, he could change my mind.

Let’s hope that’s the case, and honestly if you can keep Dejong in the ballpark, he is not typically a hitter that will hit you to death. Let’s hope the Braves find a way to keep his bat down and like I said, maybe that will flip this advantage.

Third Base

If this was any other year besides 2019, this would maybe be a close call…but it’s not.

Matt Carpenter had a horrible year and might only be a starter if Kolten Wong cant go. He batted .226 and could even get to 40 RBI’s on the year. Keep in mind though, that he was a top 10 MVP finisher last season, so he could still be a factor.

This year though, the roles have reversed and Josh Donaldson will most likely be a top 10 MVP finisher.  The slow start not-withstanding, Josh has done everything the Atlanta Braves hoped and more.

In fact, it’s almost universal that everyone in Braves country is hoping the team will bring him back in the upcoming offseason.

This matchup here is a clear huge advantage for the Atlanta Braves.
