If not?

If we don’t see improvement from Dansby Swanson in this final week, then what will Brian Snitker do in the NLDS?

More from Tomahawk Take

That’s the biggest question right now as the Atlanta Braves enter the final week.

Do you sit your franchise shortstop in the postseason in favor of a guy who has been on your team for less than two months?

In my opinion, Dansby would have to play really poorly in order for him not to start in the NLDS.

And if he plays the way he did over the weekend against the Giants when he went 0-for-10 with 4 strikeouts and a couple of errors in the field, then I think we’ll most definitely see Hechavarria start in the postseason.

Look for Hechavarria to get a lot of starts this week as well. The Atlanta Braves need to know if his recent success is just a hot streak or if he’s figured something out.

If Dansby doesn’t start in the NLDS it would be a real shame. He missed out on the postseason last year because of injury, and to miss out again because of poor play would be soul-crushing.

I think Dansby is a player who thrives under the spotlight and is made for the postseason, so selfishly, I want to see him get that chance.

But at the same time, this game is about winning, and Brian Snitker has to put the guys out there who give him the best chance of winning.

I’ve been rooting hard for Dansby all year, but I’ll be cheering even harder this week for him to turn things around.

With Freddie Freeman possibly not 100 percent going into the postseason, we really need Dansby to be Dansby and play with the same level of confidence he had earlier in the season.
