He started the game off for the Braves with a rope to left field on a hard hit ball. He added an opposite field home run later in the game.
Trying to get to a 40-40 season, he added a stolen base for good measure as well.
While he added another strikeout, and that has really been the main problem as of late, contact, it was nice to see Ronald Acuna squaring up some balls on the barrel of the bat as well. A quick note about his and Ozzie Albies baserunning as well, both read pop ups well in the first inning and got the Braves two quick runs on the board.
Just think about this, if the Braves have played this well without Acuna really chipping in, think about what the team can do when he is playing well with the rest of the team.
Hopefully with the way he is starting to swing the bat, we can realize the real potential for this team. Also, hopefully the young phenom can get hot and stay hot for the playoffs and carry this team along with Freddie Freeman.
So that is the takeaways from Thursday night’s division lead extending win against the Nationals. The same two teams will play again Friday night with Patrick Corbin scheduled to face off with Dallas Kuechel. Hopefully the Braves can stay hot and really start the burying of the Nationals and turn our attention to the playoffs.
Let us know your takeaway’s in the comment section below from Thursday’s game if you have any other’s besides the ones we have already mentioned here.
