3. Atlanta’s Bullpen Settling In

For a while there, the Atlanta Braves bullpen looked like it was absolutely self-destructing. Luckily, they’ve been able to settle in this past week.

The last 3 games have been extremely impressive for the Braves bullpen. They’ve thrown 11.1 innings and allowed just 1 run in the previous 3 games. Oh, they’ve also walked just 1 batter during that stretch.

It seems that Shane Greene, Chris Martin, and Mark Melancon are all beginning to settle in with their new team. They’ve all looked much more composed on the mound.

Even Luke Jackson is looking more relaxed and confident in the 7th inning role. Jackson pitched a clean inning last night with 2 strikeouts and held the game at 1-run a piece.

Shane Greene allowed 2 hits but struck out 3 batters in his outing. His breaking balls have looked a lot better recently. Tuesday night marked his 4th consecutive scoreless outing with 7 strikeouts and no walks in that span. He’s definitely turning back into the Shane Greene of the first half.

Chris Martin pitched a clean 9th inning for Atlanta as well with 1 strikeout. That’s something that I am extremely grateful for. I don’t want any more stress-inducing 9th innings from this bullpen.

It seems that the bullpen could be trending back towards the success they had earlier in the season. This is going to be necessary if the Atlanta Braves are going to make a run at the playoffs.
