Zack Wheeler (9-6, 4.20) vs. Max Fried (13-4, 4.11)

Over his last five starts, Zack Wheeler might actually be the Mets best starter, as he is 3-1 with a 3.13 ERA, 34 strikeouts and four walks. He threw eight innings of shutout ball in his last start against the Marlins.

Wheeler has faced the Braves twice this season and has allowed six earned runs on 16 hits in 12 innings. He went 1-1 in those two starts.

In his career against the Braves, Wheeler is 6-4 with a 3.42 in 12 starts and at SunTrust Park, Wheeler is 1-2 with a 6.33 ERA.

Met Killer himself, Freddie Freeman, has owned Wheeler in his career, going 12-for-24, with two home runs, six RBIs and 12 walks.

Brian McCann has gone 5-for-9 with a homer, Josh Donaldson has gone 6-for-10 and Ronald Acuna has gone 3-for-9.

It appears Max Fried has moved on from his midseason struggles, as he has been dynamite over his past two starts, where he has struck out 14 batters over 11.1 innings and allowed just four earned runs.

He faced the Mets on June 19th and went six innings, while striking out six and allowed two earned runs in the victory.

The sample size is small for Mets hitters, but McNeil is 4-for-8, Todd Frazier is 3-for-8, Wilson Ramos is 2-for-4 and J.D. Davis is 4-for-6.

With the Braves success off Wheeler and Fried’s resurgence, this is a game the Braves need to get and I think they will.
