Game 3 – Mike Soroka vs. Sandy Alcantara

People keep talking as if Mike Soroka is scuffling, but the freshly turned 22-year-old has given up just 5 earned runs in his last three starts.

In his last start against the mighty Minnesota Twins he had one inning where a couple of soft singles led to a big inning, but outside of that he was great and went 7 innings — and probably should have gone back out for the eighth.

He’s 2-0 against Miami this year and has allowed just 1 earned run in 15 innings.

His last time out against Miami Brian Snitker allowed him to go back out for the ninth but was pulled after a leadoff walk that came around to score (the only earned run he’s allowed against the Marlins this year).

Starlin Castro and Miguel Rojas are both 3-for-8 off Soroka.

It has been an up-and-down year for Sandy Alcantara with an ERA over six in both April and July, but an ERA under four in both May and June.

He only lasted four innings against the Atlanta Braves in what was his second start of the year.

Game 4 – Mike Foltynewicz vs. TBD

MLB.com shows TBD for both teams on Sunday, but I’m assuming Mike Foltynewicz will get the start for the Atlanta Braves.

We all know how great he looked in the first five innings against the Minnesota Twins.

Things got away from him in the sixth, but you could make the excuse he kind of lost focus in a blowout.

This will be another great chance for him to have a really strong game.

He somehow missed the Marlins early in the year, which is unfortunate for him. But he’s made 9 starts against him over the past three seasons and has an ERA of 3.12 in 52 innings with 58 strikeouts.
