20. Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have treaded dangerous waters all year. The good news is they are still only 7 out, but they would have to jump three teams. I still think it’s best they play the long game. They could stock the farm by trading Scooter Gennett, Yasiel Puig, and Raisel Iglesias

19. Arizona Diamondbacks

Going 3-3 on a week when you play Miami and Baltimore is not really impressive. I look for Arizona to try and do everything it can to unload as much as Zack Grienke’s contract, and if they fail this week, to try again this winter.

18. Texas Rangers

Another team mired in that mid-range where fans will expect a go for it attitude, but the truth is they are probably better served to stand pat or sell. Players like Jose Leclerc, Mike Minor, and Danny Santana could get them some nice prospects.

17. New York Mets

The Mets are sometimes an extremely confusing organization. After severely overpaying to get Edwin Diaz, they just traded for Marcus Stroman when they should be adding to the farm. Granted, they could add to it still by trading Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler, and the aforementioned Diaz. If nothing else, the Mets are always good for something.

16. San Francisco Giants

I will say it … the Giants recent great play is bad for the organization in the long run. This organization needs prospects bad and the little shot of getting them by trading Madison Bumgarner, Will Smith, and Sam Dyson is probably now gone.

15. Los Angeles Angels

Congrats to Albert Pujols who hit his 650th career dinger this weekend. Losing 3 out of 4 to Baltimore though had to be a kick in the gut. I see the Angels much like I do the Padres.

14. Milwaukee Brewers

Interesting report this weekend that stated the Brewers would maybe deal from the team’s surplus of offense for pitching. Not a bad idea to me as they probably need to be more balanced to win the Central.

13. Philadelphia Phillies

Two things stand out with the Phillies. No one has a batting average over .281 and no one not named Aaron Nola is pitching well at all right now.

12. Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays made a deal Sunday for Eric Sogard. That comes on the heels of learning Blake Snell needs elbow surgery, though. A playoff spot that once looked good might be slowly slipping away from Tampa.

11. Oakland Athletics

The Athletics kind of kick-started the trading by dealing for Jake Diekman Saturday evening. The AL Wild card race is starting to look completely congested and Oakland is right in the mix once again.
