1. Thursday was a prime example of why we need pitching

Some people have been vocal about not acquiring any pitching since the Atlanta Braves have a ton of options in the minors, and while that is true, I would point to Thursday and the last few games of why we need to acquire pitching.

Yes, pitching, not pitchers. I still say we need another good rotation piece and a back of the bullpen type piece.

More from Tomahawk Take

We shouldn’t be this late in the year pitching all these inexperienced pitchers especially against teams like the Brewers and Nationals.

While I have been vocal on here about the resurgence of the bullpen, I still say we need another piece.

Maybe it pushes everyone down a spot and the pen becomes better. Besides, it may be time to send Touki Toussaint back down to Triple-A and let him work on a few more things.

(UPDATE: The Braves sent Touki down to Triple-A on Friday morning)

Back on the starting rotation though, we need that starting pitcher who rarely runs into a bad inning. I don’t think an “ace” is available in trade talks this summer but plenty of good options still exist.

I think Mike Soroka will be there in a year or two, but it’s not fair to put that on him this year. The Braves HAVE to get one more option.

I would be remised if I didn’t mention that obviously, Stephen Strasburg is the second coming of Roger Maris now apparently.

Next. 3 trades for World Series. dark

That’s the recap from a nasty day at the park Thursday night. Let us know your takeaway’s from the game in the comments below. Hopefully the Atlanta Braves can gain the game back they lost Friday night against the same Nationals.
