Series Preview: Dallas Keuchel makes debut as Atlanta Braves take on the Nats
Game 2 – Mike Foltynewicz vs. Anibal Sanchez
The Atlanta Braves get another shot at their old friend as Anibal Sanchez is expected to take the mound on Saturday.
Earlier this year he was nearly perfect against the Atlanta Braves allowing just a hit and a walk over 6 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts.
He carried that success into June where he’s been great with a 2.08 ERA in three starts.
Josh Donaldson is 7-for-26 against him with a home run, while McCann is 11-for-38 with 2 home runs.
The 35-year-old veteran just knows how to pitch, and he will make it very difficult even against a great Braves lineup.
Mike Foltynewicz ended up with a good result in his last outing giving up just 1 run over 6 innings with 6 strikeouts, but he still struggled to find command issuing 5 walks.
We’re still waiting to see the Folty of 2018, and Saturday would be a great time to break out of this funk.
Last year he was 3-2 against the Nats, including a complete game shutout.
Eaton is 5-for-17 off Folty, Anthony Rendon is 7-for-25, and Trea Turner is 7-for-26 with a home run.
This could be a critical start for Folty. With Keuchel joining the rotation, obviously, Kevin Gausman is the odd man out. But if Folty doesn’t get it together soon, the Atlanta Braves may have to consider replacing him as well.
