Starting Rotation Help

Madison Bumgarner is still my top choice for the Atlanta Braves this summer. Every time I bring it up on Twitter I get killed by Braves fans who think he’s past his prime.

But I’ll take Madison Bumgarner to battle with me over just about anybody.

Despite being on a terrible team and dealing with some fluke injuries the past two seasons, he’s still putting up very good numbers.

You put him on a contender again with a chance to win another World Series, and I dare you to bet against him.

I don’t know what the price would be for him as a two-month rental, and you’d have to get him to approve the trade since the Atlanta Braves are on his no-trade list, but if the Braves get this deal done that starting rotation becomes good enough to make a lot of noise in the postseason.

Marcus Stroman is another name that comes up with the Atlanta Braves when talking about the upcoming trade deadline.

I’m not nearly as excited about Stroman, but he’s also a fierce competitor that would improve the starting rotation. He also has one more year of control, which also means his price could be higher.

A long shot, but maybe the best starter available, would be Matt Boyd. He has three years of control left and is having a monster season with a 3.35 ERA in 88.2 innings with 112 strikeouts.

Trevor Bauer and Zack Wheeler are also intriguing names on this list if the Indians and Mets decide to sell off this year. But both of those are long shots at this point as well.

Bargain shopping: Jordon Zimmermann, Mike Minor, and Tanner Roark.
