1. deGrom continues to dazzle against Atlanta

The New York Mets ace has always pitched well against the Atlanta Braves in his career. As I mentioned before, deGrom’s career ERA against the Braves sat at 1.86 coming into Tuesday’s game.

deGrom struggled against Atlanta in April and hasn’t been as good as most expected him to be so far in 2019.

However, he seemed to figure some things out in his second outing against the Braves in 2019.

The right-hander finished with a linescore of  8.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, and 10 K. That’s the Jacob deGrom that baseball fans expect every team to face when he’s on the mound.

Atlanta Braves fans were hoping that the offense would just continue rolling against deGrom. However, Jacob deGrom was up to the challenge and looked determined to not let the Mets bullpen allow a comeback.

I can’t say that I blame him with how potent the Braves offense has been across the last two weeks.

The Atlanta Braves offense had scored 90 runs across their past 11 games played.

Not only have they scored 90 runs, but their overall offensive numbers have also been ridiculously impressive.

It is hard to imagine that the entire team has accounted for an OPS just shy of 1,000. That should show everyone around the league just how dangerous the Braves offense is.

That is what makes deGrom’s performance so impressive on Tuesday evening. He silenced an offense that looked like it couldn’t be stopped.

Hopefully, the offense will wake up for the rubber match on Wednesday evening.
