Game 1 – Nick Pivetta vs Max Fried

Nick Pivetta faced the Atlanta Braves in that Opening Series this year and Atlanta touched him up for 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 1 walks over 4.2 innings.

He had really been struggling to start the season and was sent down, but since coming back he’s been really good giving up just 4 runs in his past three starts.

In his last start, which came against the Reds, he gave up just 1 run on 6 hits with no walks in a complete game effort with 6 strikeouts.

He’s made nine starts against the Atlanta Braves in his career and is 4-1 with a 3.21 ERA in 47.2 innings with 39 strikeouts.

Lefties Freddie Freeman (6-for-20) and Nick Markakis (5-for-19) have had good success against the righty Pivetta — as has Dansby Swanson (5-for-16).

Max Fried pitched in two games against the Phillies to start the season out of the bullpen. He didn’t allow a hit or a run in 1.2 innings, but he walked two and didn’t strike out a batter.

He’s made 6 appearances against Philadelphia in his career, all out of the bullpen, and he’s given up just 1 run on 6 hits and 6 walks over 9.2 innings with 8 strikeouts.

Nobody from the Phillies lineup has more than 1 hit or 4 at-bats against Fried.

The Braves lefty started the season on fire but has regressed quite a bit since taking that line drive off the arm against the Dodgers.

Since then his ERA has gone from 2.11 to 3.75, and he has just 3 quality starts in his last 7 outings.
