Game 1-Stephen Strasburg vs. Max Fried

Stephen Strasburg is 4-3 with a 3.25 ERA on the season, but over the past 3 games, he has been really good.

In those starts, he is 1-1 with a 2.14 ERA. Opponents are hitting .188 and his BAbip is .231.

Against the Mets in his last start, Strasburg went seven innings, scattered five hits, struck out five and allowed two earned runs in a no-decision.

In his 30 career starts versus the Braves Strasburg is 11-11 with a 4.07 ERA, but he has a certain bug-a-boo to deal with.

Freddie Freeman has absolutely hammered Strasburg in his career. He is 17-for-48 with four home runs and an OPS of 1.129.

Brian McCann, too, has had success off Strasburg, going 7-for-21 with a homer.

Nick Markakis is 10-36 with a home run; Dansby Swanson 4-14 with a home run and Ozzie Albies is 2-for-7.

Strasburg has started three games at Sun Trust Park, going 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA.

The Nationals will face the National League leader in wins, Max Fried.

With a record of 7-2 and an ERA of 2.88, Fried is well on his way to an All-Star selection.

In his last three starts, Fried is 3-0 with a 2.65 ERA. He has struck out 17, while walking only five.

Fried’s home/road splits are interesting considering his success. His win-loss record is similar, but the main difference is at Sun Trust Park Fried’s ERA is 2.08, while it is 3.81 on the road.

In his career against the Nationals, Fried has only pitched three innings and has an ERA of 3.00.

The Braves have to feel good about this one.
