Atlanta Braves Series Preview: Finishing off the Cardinals
Game 2 – Mike Soroka vs Dakota Hudson
We are running out of things to say about the incredible start Mike Soroka has had to his career. What he’s doing is truly amazing, and I’m just happy to be along for the ride.
I know you’ve all seen the stats 1,000 times by now, but let me give them to you again just in case.
Through seven starts this season he has a 1.01 ERA in 44.2 innings pitched with 41 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.87. He’s given up 1 earned run or less in all seven starts this season.
One streak was broken in his last start as he gave up a home run for the first time this season. It was just the second home run he’s given up in the big leagues.
Soroka did pitch against the Cardinals last week and tossed 7 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts.
The 24-year-old Dakota Hudson is having a solid season for the Cardinals with a 4.40 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 47 innings with 36 strikeouts.
His last time out was against Texas and he held them to just 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings with 5 strikeouts.
The righty made a relief appearance against the Braves last year and gave up 1 run on 3 hits with a strikeout in 1.2 innings.
