Pache Continues to Impress

It just seems like every day Cristian Pache does something spectacular that makes you wonder how long we’ll have to wait for him to join the outfield for the Atlanta Braves.

He came in late in the game against the Red Sox as most of the Braves starters played deep into the game.

But even in a short period, he still made an impression.

In the bottom of the seventh, he made a great running grab in the right-centerfield gap almost against the wall.

Off the bat I thought it was a sure double, but he managed to run the ball down and get the out.

And then he led off the top of the eighth with a line drive double to left field in what would be his only at-bat of the day.

I know it’s not going to happen, but it really is tempting to have him start the year with the Atlanta Braves.

We wrote the other day about the possibility of when Pache could come up. I still think there is no way they call him up before June 1.

But if he continues to swing the bat like this through the end of Spring Training, it would be hard not to stick him in right field and let Nick Markakis come off the bench.

I really hope Pache gets several starts down the stretch this Spring to see how he does against teams’ best starters.

Either way, this Spring has been huge for Pache and his future with this Braves team. Instead of being an expendable prospect, he now looks like a fixture in the outfield for years to come.
