Postseason Excellence

The 2015 season was the Houston Astros first season back into the postseason after a long rebuild, and they leaned on Keuchel heavily, pitching him in the Wild Card game and then struggling when he was unable to get on the mound for multiple starts against the Royals in the division series. He tossed 14 innings that postseason, with a 2.57 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 5/10 BB/K ratio in that innings.

The Astros and Keuchel had a step back season in 2016 as the Astros missed the playoffs and Keuchel put up a 4.55 ERA. He bounced back as he fought through injuries in 2017, posting a 2.90 ERA over 145 2/3 innings in the regular season.

Once again, Keuchel turned it on in the postseason. As the Astros headed toward their first World Series championship, Keuchel made 5 starts, tossing 27 2/3 innings. Over those starts, he posted a 3.58 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 8/32 BB/K ratio.

Keuchel was back to full health in 2018, tossing 204 2/3 innings and leading the league in games started, with 34. He posted a 3.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and a 58/153 BB/K ratio over the regular season.

Though the Astros didn’t make a return trip to the World Series, they did see another solid postseason performance from their lefty, as Keuchel made a start in each of their series, combining for 10 innings pitched, a 3.60 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 3/2 BB/K ratio.
