An arm, a first-born child…

Okay, while the Cleveland Indians may not request any young children involved in the trade (that is likely against bargaining agreement anyway), they will definitely be attracted to the Atlanta Braves depth in young arms.

One of the major things that has been glossed over in proposals that have been mentioned online is the need for the Cleveland Indians to trim salary. That could honestly add motivation to move the salary that would not normally be there for the same player.

Either way, however, you are talking about one of the 10 best pitchers in the game over the last 5 seasons in either Kluber or Carrasco. The deal will be significant.

The deal I would make

While I love Kluber, and the chance to get him would be amazing, lining up his salary and trade demands is a lot of cost. On the other hand, for half the trade cost, you’re getting nearly as valuable a pitcher in Carrasco, who does have one less year of optional control, but his less control would also likely keep his trade market less costly.

While others are coming at Cleveland with big offers for Kluber, looking to lock up a 2-time Cy Young Award winner coming off of a 20-win season, the Atlanta Braves and Alex Anthopoulos could slide in with an offer to meet multiple needs for the Indians.

Atlanta Braves send: Sean Newcomb, Adam Duvall, Jacob Webb
Cleveland Indians send: Carlos Carrasco

Depending on who you are, this seems like a steep price. As I mentioned recently, Adam Duvall is a much more valuable piece in the game than many Atlanta Braves fans are wanting to believe. Webb is a power arm that would help cover multiple pieces the Indians are losing in free agency.
