Scouting report

Baseball America’s scouting report touts Reed’s football mentality, aggressive approach, and intensity.

"Reed is an above-average runner . . . good instincts on the bases (able to play) center field but he mostly played right field (with the Brewers where) his arm strength is an asset . . . (possesses) on-base ability and speed. . ."

The Braves used Reed almost exclusively in center field with both Mississippi and Gwinnett.  He’s played errorless ball so far and racked up five outfield assists.

Technically Reed joined the 25-man roster on July 2 however, he didn’t get into the game and returned to Gwinnett the next day.

In case you missed the minor league movement over the weekend, the Braves made other adjustments there as well.

Welcome back Mr. Adams

Old friend Lane Adams returned to Gwinnett after signing a new minor league deal. Adams made an impact with his bat and speed after a June call-up last season, posting a .275/.339/.468/.812 line, .344 wOBA and 110 wRC+ in 122 PA.

The Atlanta Braves signed him again for the 2018 season and he broke camp with Atlanta in March. Adams appeared in 15 games, mostly as a pinch hitter, posting a .235/.381/.412/.793 line in 21 PA.

That apparently wasn’t good enough, so the Braves designated him for assignment on April 27. He signed with the Cubs on May 8 and played 32 AAA games for them. He must have left his good bats in Atlanta as he never found his stroke in Iowa. The Cubs released him at the end of June and the Braves signed him again on July 16.
