Zach Daniels Right-handed reliever 19th round

Daniels spent three years at Iowa working from their bullpen. Baseball America produced a short, to the point scouting report calling him undersized but athletic.

". . . Daniels has some athleticism and can run his fastball up to 90-92 mph with some run and sink."

Daniels posted a 7-3 record his sophomore year, pitching to a 3.22 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 50 1/3 IP.

The Daily Iowan reports that as a junior he acted as setup man for then closer Josh Martsching and racked up a couple of saves for himself.

Year ERA G SV IP R ER HR BB SO WHIP
2016 1.5 16 5 18 3 3 0 4 15 1
2017 3.22 24 1 50 23 18 3 25 55 1.59
2018 2.56 25 5 45 16 13 3 23 49 1.2

Daniels looks like being a middle reliever in the Braves system.

William Woods Right-handed starting pitcher 23rd round

Woods is a 6’-3, 190 graduate of Trenton Peabody High School who just completed his sophomore year at Dyersburg State Community College, Tennessee.

According to their limited statistics,  Woods appeared in 13 games(12 starts) and threw 71 2/3 innings, including four complete games while posting a 7-3 record.

On the season he allowed eight homers, struck out 56 and walked 22, finishing with a 3.64 ERA.

Wood was named to the  2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American (Southeast Region HM)

That’s a wrap

Four Atlanta Braves selectees are still involved in the College World Series; A.J Graffanino, Ryan Shetter, Nolan Kingham and Ty Harpenau. Arkansas handed Texas their . . . horns Monday.

Texas must now win their next game to stay in the tournament. Nolan Kingham started for Texas; it wasn’t his best outing.

They could have faced tech but Tech took care of business, beating Florida who must beat Texas or head back to the swamp. I have to root for the Texas teams. Shetter and Kingham play for Texas and  Harpenau plays for Tech.
