What are others saying?

A separate post by O’Brien  makes it pretty clear he believes and I suspect the majority of fans agree the Braves have to make big changes quickly. He suggested that the Braves not refer to themselves as a “gold standard” franchise anytime soon.  Then dropped a couple of pretty damning claims.

  • An individual with knowledge of the domestic draft… (told him that Coppolella and crew) made illegal in-home visits, asked potential draft picks to fake injuries and tell other clubs they weren’t signing.
  • He asked if  the front office was as bad as we’ve heard and one Braves official texted back just one word, “Yes.”

O’Brien goes on to rhetorically ask the questions many of us have asked:

  • Was Coppolella given carte blanche and able to obtain the funds to what he wanted without question?
  • Did he direct how the deals would be made or did he just give Blakeley and crew the money and tell them to make it happen?

O’Brien opines that the Braves need a short, sharp change in fortunes to help fans forget.

". . .the best way, for the Braves to put this behind them. . (is)  winning significantly more and losing significantly less (sic) In 2018 . . .And that starts now, with hiring the right GM and giving him a payroll that’s not in the bottom third, or even the bottom half, of baseball . . ."
