Atlanta Braves Minor League Midweek Wrap Up, April 13th
AAA Gwinnett Braves (3-4)
Monday
The Braves ended up in a hardcore pitcher’s duel in Luke Jackson‘s first start in some time, but they ended up on the short end, 3-0. Jackson rolled through 4 scoreless before faltering in the 5th inning, with a final line of 4 1/3 innings, 3 runs allowed on 4 hits and a walk, striking out 6.
No Gwinnett hitter reached base twice. Ozzie Albies and Xavier Avery each stole a base.
Tuesday
The G-Braves responded to being shut out by absolutely exploding at the plate. Aaron Blair really didn’t need the run support, either, as he threw a very good ball game, going 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6.
Lane Adams had a monster day on offense, going 4-5 with 2 home runs and a stolen base. Xavier Avery had a double and two singles. Mel Rojas, Jr. had three singles. Matt Tuiasosopo had a single and two walks. Rio Ruiz had two doubles. Sean Kazmar had two singles. David Freitas had a single and a walk.
Wednesday
The G-Braves finished the midweek series with Norfolk with an 8-2 victory. Sean Newcomb threw a very solid start, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5.
Five Gwinnett hitters had multiple hits on the day. Lane Adams had a double, single, walk, and a stolen base. Blake Lalli had a home run and a single. Xavier Avery and Ozzie Albies each had a double and a single. Kyle Kubitza had two singles.
