National League Wild Cards

Big spread here:

  • Cardinals:  5 votes
  • Mets:  4 votes
  • Braves, Dodgers:  3 votes
  • Giants, Rockies:  2 apiece
  • Washington, DBacks, Cubs:  1 each

So our consensus is that the NL Playoff teams will be Washington, Chicago, the Dodgers, Cardinals, and Mets.  That is probably right where the industry pundits are going as well.

American League Wild Cards

More confusion!

  • Seattle:  5 votes
  • Detroit, Baltimore, Yankees:  3 votes
  • Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston, Toronto:  2 votes

Combined with our division winner picks, that gives us Boston, Cleveland, Houston, Seattle, and an unknown for the last spot among the Tigers, Orioles, and Yankees.  Personally, I’d give the nod to the Tigers for being in the weaker division.

World Series Victors

  • The Indians were named on 4 ballots, the Cubs on six… with two rematches of last year’s series indicated.
  • Boston was called out on 5 ballots as well.
  • The Dodgers got recognition with 3 votes
  • Mariners, Astros, Cardinals and Giants (it’s not an even-numbered year!) all got a single nod.

So… Cubs to narrowly beat Boston in the World Series?  That’s not unreasonable at this point.
