Hitter of the week: Austin Riley was on point all week with a monster power display for Rome, going .474/.524/1.105/1.629 with 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 6 RBI, and a 2/3 BB/K ratio as they finished out their season by clinching the South Atlantic South Division.
Honorable mention: With the Braves likely done in Carolina, they sure sent their affiliation out with the Mudcats out with a bang offensively, and Travis Demeritte led off all the scoring. He hit .389/.565/.667/1.232 with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, a triple, an RBI, a 5/6 BB/K ratio and even stole a base.
Pitcher of the week: All season long, the Braves have been waiting for Sean Newcomb to take that next step. He’d worked with the team to approach the game with smarts and work over hitters, but that extra step of dominating those hitters hadn’t taken hold until this week. Newcomb’s start this week was pure dominance, as he threw 7 scoreless innings with only a hit and a walk allowed, striking out 8.
Honorable mention: Throughout the season, Patrick Weigel‘s been part of a tremendous rotation in Rome, and now he’s part of another tremendous rotation in Mississippi. This week, he took a no-hitter all the way to the 7th inning in his start as he ended up throwing 8 1/3 innings, allowing only an unearned run on two hits and two walks, striking out 4. It was a perfect tune up for the playoffs.

Thursday
The Braves took down Durham with a walk off in the bottom of the 11th inning 1-0. Williams Perez got the start and went 5 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, walking just one, striking out 7. Mel Rojas had a double, single, and a walk. Emilio Bonifacio, Rio Ruiz, and Daniel Castro each had two singles. Sean Kazmar had a single and a walk. Braeden Schlehuber had a double.
Friday
Durham exploded on Friday, going for 14-0 over Gwinnett. Wilfredo Boscan started the game and went 3 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 1. No Gwinnett hitter got on base twice.
Saturday
Durham scored early and took down the Braves 7-3 on Saturday. Chris Ellis got the start, going 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4. Daniel Castro and Emilio Bonifacio had two singles. Blake Lalli had a single and a walk.
Sunday
Gwinnett was nearly shut out on Sunday, but they scored finally in the top of the 9th, losing to Durham 7-1. Rob Wooten made the start, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits and no walks, striking out 4. Ronnier Mustelier had a double and a walk.

The Braves followed a dynamic duo at the top of their lineup to a 5-1 win over Biloxi. Patrick Weigel went 8 1/3 innings, taking a no-hitter into the 7th inning, allowing one unearned run, with 2 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4. Dustin Peterson had a double and a home run. Ozzie Albies had a home run, single, and a stolen base. Mallex Smith had two singles and a stolen base.
Friday
Mississippi shut out Biloxi 10-0 on Friday. Sean Newcomb was purely dominating, throwing 7 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, striking out 8. Mallex Smith had a triple, two singles, and a walk. Connor Lien had a triple and two singles. Ozzie Albies had two doubles and a walk. Dustin Peterson had a double, walk, and a single. Carlos Franco had a home run and a single. Joey Meneses had a single and a walk.
Saturday
Mississippi took down Biloxi 6-2. Michael Mader went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits and a walk, striking out 6. Mallex Smith had two singles, two walks, and two stolen bases.
