Gwinnett walked off with a win on Monday 6-5 over Norfolk. Rob Wooten made the start, going 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and no walks, striking out 2. Reid Brignac had a big day at the plate with 3 singles and a double. Emilio Bonifacio had two singles and a double. Daniel Castro and Braeden Schlehuber each had a double and a single. Rio Ruiz had a single and a walk.

Tuesday

Carolina dropped both ends of a double-header on Tuesday. In the first game, they fell to Wilmington 9-1. Wes Parsons made the start, though his final line didn’t reflect how well he pitched for the first 5 innings. His final tally was 5 1/3 innings pitched with 5 runs allowed on 9 hits and 3 walks, striking out 3. Jordan Edgerton had a home run.

In the second game, Carolina fought again until their bullpen blew open the game late, losing 5-2. Carlos Portuondo made the spot start, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6. Travis Demeritte had a double, triple, and a walk. Danville Braves (30-36)

Monday

The Braves were shut out in Monday’s game 4-0. Joey Wentz had a solid start in the loss, going 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk, striking out 5. No Danville hitter was on base twice, but Marcus Mooney did steal his 6th base of the season.

Tuesday

Burlington swept a double-header from Danville by identical 9-2 scores. In the first game, Ian Anderson made the start and went 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, striking out 2. Marcus Mooney and Cristian Pache each had a single and a walk. Brett Cumberland had a double.

Monday

The Braves defeated the Yankees East 4-2 in a rain-shortened game on Monday. Kyle Muller made the start, but due to the rain, he only threw 1 inning, allowing no hits or walks, striking out 2. Odalvi Javier relieved Muller and threw 5 innings, allowing one unearned run on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 2. Alex Aquino had a double and a single. Randy Ventura and A.J. Pierzynski each had two singles.

Tuesday

The Braves and Yankees East were tied at 0 when the game was called due to rain. The Braves got an excellent start from Alan Rangel, who went 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, striking out 3. Jackson Pokorney walked twice to be the only Braves hitter to reach base twice.
