Gwinnett took down Norfolk 6-5 Monday. Victor Mateo got the start and went 3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks, striking out 2. Carlos Portuondo threw 4 2/3 innings in his first Gwinnett appearance, allowing no runs on 4 hits and a walk, striking out 2. Rio Ruiz had a home run, double, and a single. Danville Braves (21-25)

Monday

Danville split a double header on Monday. In the first game, Danville came back to tie the game, and what was supposed to be a 7-inning game became a 12-inning affair that Elizabethton won 4-3. Joey Wentz went 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 5. Ramon Osuna had a home run, single, walk, and a stolen base. Marcus Mooney had two singles. Derian Cruz had a triple. Bradley Keller had a stolen base.

Danville won the second game 3-1. Drew Harrington got the start, going 2 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and a walk, striking out 1. No Danville hitter had multiple times on base.

Tuesday

Elizabethton put up a 4-spot in the 2nd inning and held on to win 6-3 over Danville on Tuesday. The Braves split a double header on Tuesday with the Tigers West squad. In the first game, the Braves offense couldn’t support a great combined pitching performance from three relievers, losing 1-0. Parker Danciu made the start, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks, striking out 3. William Contreras had a double and a single. Shean Michel had two singles. Sean Godfrey had a double.

In the second game, the Braves got a shut out from their pitching and put up 4 runs of their own to take the game 4-0. Kyle Muller made the start, going 3 scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and a walk, striking out 6. Alex Aquino had two doubles. Nicholas Shumpert had a double.
